ABOUT ME

I’ve known since I was a kid that I wanted to be an artist. Whether it be the first time I used paste in Kindergarten to make a collage (my little mind was blown), or learning about art history and recreating work by the greats, I was hooked. It wasn’t until I attended a church as a high school student that I realized my art can be a means of worship, and not just singing. Being able to set up an easel and paint during a worship set was something I didn’t even know was allowed! Fast forward, this is a common practice in my life now, to draw or paint during a time of worship or “quiet time.” When I create, I connect with Him, even if it’s not an explicitly Christian piece that I’m working on. The pressure to be anybody or be the best painter falls off. Rather, I’ve learned how to enter rest as I create, knowing He is delighted in my work before I ever begin. I imagine God as a dad that takes my little paintings and proudly hangs them on the fridge. Not because I’m the most skilled, but because He loves me. And that is what motivates me to create.

It’s all an offering back to Him.
